Prerequisite: Head Up Side Slides.
Desired outcome: Transition safely between a neutral back-flying position and a neutral head-up position on a defined level without uncontrolled drive or rotation.
Reference material: IBA Flight Tutorial #34.
Key points:
- Begin and finish near the center of the tunnel.
- Coordinate the upper- and lower-body rotation instead of throwing one end of the body through the transition.
- Arrive with the hips bent and stop in a clearly neutral head-up position.
- Maintain a planned recovery to neutral back flying.
Manual source: Static Progression Coach Manual, Lesson Plan #21, Head Up Front Flip Transition.
Coaching and safety: Begin low and at a controlled wind speed. Require a smooth, committed transition and a reliable stop before increasing speed or altitude, and keep the doorway outside the travel path.
